Cornhole League Rules

General

Waiver of Liability

  • All participants must sign off on the general waiver of liability in order to be eligible to play. This can be done through the website at www.westmorelandsportsleague.com when you register for the league and make a profile.

Team Fee

  • The team fee for the season is $60 ($30/player). The team fee must be paid by the 2nd week.
  • Payments can be made online (3% service charge fee) or in person at the games
  • Payments can be made through Venmo (@wslmattlaskey) with no surcharge.

Sportsmanship

  • Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated
  • Any player that is violent, harassing, and disrupting the integrity of the game will face an automatic suspension from the league permanently. Players that are removed from the league will not be entitled to a refund of their entry fee.

Inclement Weather

  • If there is inclement weather during game day, the league director will notify all team captains of the cancellation and the games will be rescheduled. It is the team captain's duty to notify their team players of the cancellation. Cancellations will also be posted on the WSL Facebook page.

Teams

Rosters

  • Doubles (does not have to be co-ed)
  • If a player cannot attend a week, the team may bring a "sub".   Only 1 "sub" can be used per week.

Rules

Scoring

  • "Cornhole" (beanbag goes through the hole) = 3 pts
  • "Woody" (beanbag lands and stays on the board without contacting any other surface) = 1 pt
  • Cancellation Scoring will be used (each player tossed 1 bean bag in the hole = 0 points). Points will only be awarded to the player that had more points that round
  • Games will be played to 25 points.
  • No "bust" rule. Teams can score more than 25 points and not "bust" (go back to 15 points or no score)

Matches

  • Teams will play at least 2 matches per night.
  • A match consists of best of 3 games. The first team to win "2" games wins the match.
  • Games won will be used to determine playoff seeding
  • Playoffs will be double elimination (based off of seeding).

Gameplay

  • The "Home" team listed will have the option of one of the following:
  • Choose what sides of the boards they will shoot from
  • Choose which opponent each player will throw against
  • The "Home" team will begin the match by throwing first
    • For the second match, the "Away" team will throw first.
    • For the second match, the "Home" team can switch who they throw against OR change which side of the board they want to throw on
  • Players will alternate throws until each player has thrown all 4 bags.
  • Players must throw from behind the front of the board
    • If a player steps past the front of the board during the release of the throw, the bag will be nullified and removed from the board (if it landed for points)
  • All throws must be made with an underhand toss.
  • A beanbag cannot contact any surface other than the board during the throw. Throws that bounced onto the board will be removed. Beanbags that are leaning off of the front and contacting a beanbag on the ground will be nullified and no points awarded.
  • Scoreboards will be available for anyone that would like to use them to keep score.
